
To access the Carbon Calculator, your browser needs the following;
- Javascript Enabled
- ActiveX Controls Enabled
- Adobe Flash pluggin.
If any of these are not set up properly it will result in the Carbon Calculator not appearing. To rectify these issues follow the instructions below.
Enabling Javascript
If you see the following message when trying to view the Carbon Calculator -
"WARNING! - This page uses JavaScript to display the Carbon Calculator application", it most likely means that you have scripting disabled.
To enable scripting in Internet Explorer
- Click 'Tools', 'Internet Options', 'Security'.
- Select 'Internet Zone'.
- Click on the 'Custom Level' button.
- Scroll Down the list until you find 'Scripting'.
- Under the 'Scripting' heading is a sub heading 'Active scripting'.
- Check the radio button next to 'Enable'.
- Click 'Ok' to close the popup box.
- Click 'Ok' to close the 'Internet Options' box.
To enable scripting in Firefox
- Click 'Tools', Options', 'Content'.
- Click the 'Enable Javascript' checkbox so that it has a tick in it.
- Click 'Ok' to close the 'Options' box.
Enabling ActiveX
If ActiveX is disabled, you will most likely get a warning from Internet Explorer that ActiveX is trying to do something.
To enable ActiveX in Internet Explorer
- Click 'Tools', 'Internet Options', 'Security'.
- Select 'Internet Zone'.
- Click on the 'Custom Level' button.
- Scroll Down the list until you find 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins'.
- Under the 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins' heading is a sub heading 'Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins'.
- Check the radio button next to 'Enable'.
- Click 'Ok' to close the popup box.
- Click 'Ok' to close the 'Internet Options' box.
Adobe Flash Plugin
To carbon calculator uses the Adobe Flash Plugin for displaying of the application. Your browser will by default try to download the plugin if it is not installed. If the flash player is older than version 8, you will have to download the latest player to view the application. You will see a message telling you to upgrade to the new player if it is necessary. The newest Flash player can be found here
