Process Design

Advitech has been involved in the design of process plant and equipment for many years. Process engineering staff have a wide range of experience in many industries including integrated steelworks, foundries, chemical processing and refining, waste water treatment and food processing.

The industrial experience of our engineers ensures process designs meet the practical requirements of operations and maintenance required in process plants. Advitech has completed many process designs incorporating combustion systems, piping systems, ventilation and waste heat recovery.

Experience/Examples

Advitech has undertaken process designs for many businesses including BHP Billiton, Tomago Aluminium and Bradken. Some recent examples of design projects undertaken by Advitech are:

  • BHP Billiton Research Non Recovery Coke Oven
  • CSIRO Syngas Simulation Rig
  • Bradken Runcorn Cooling Line Ventilation System
  • Milltech Cooling Water System
  • Atlantic Pacific Foods Tank Heating System
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagram for Mobile Teatment Solutions Thermal Soil Treatment Plant
  • Groundwater Harvesting System for Newcastle Foreshore Park

The design of the research non recovery coke oven for BHP Billiton provides a good example of many aspects of Advitech's process design capabilities. The design tasks involved:

  • Heat and mass balances
  • Burner sizing
  • Control valve sizing
  • Stack gas temperature specification for natural draft
  • Instrument specifications
  • Functional control specification
  • Risk assessment
