Environmental Engineering

Advitech has undertaken numerous projects related to environmental issues faced by processing facilities. Our process engineering staff have a wide range of experience in environmental projects in many industries, including integrated steelworks, foundries, chemical processing and refining, waste water treatment and food processing.

Recent air dispersion modelling projects include:

  • Hydromet's proposed lead recovery plant
  • Orica ammonium nitrate plant
  • BHP Billiton research coke oven
  • Bradken Runcorn odour mitigation

See example odour dispersion modelling output from Ausplume at right.

NSW Dept of Environment and Climate Change (DECC)

Advitech are presently working with the DECC on various resource recovery opportunities, under DECC's Industrial Ecologies Program. The following projects are just a few of the potential waste recovery projects to be undertaken:

  • Waste particle board and MDF from Laminex to be used as an alternate fuel in Blue Circle Southern Cements rotary kiln. This waste would usually go to landfill but will soon substitute a portion of the coal fuel load in the kiln.
  • Ontera Modular Carpets off cuts to be used as a substitute feedstock by Dunlop in the manufacture of polyurethane carpet underlay. This unavoidable waste product from the manufacture of the modular carpet is currently placed in landfill but could be potentially 100% recycled.
