National Pollutant Inventory (NPI)

The National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) is a public internet database managed by the Commonwealth Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.  It is an environmental management tool that collects, reviews and publishes emissions data from a range of sources.

All facilities that exceed reporting thresholds are required to report to the NPI.  The NPI reporting year typically runs from 1 July to 30 June, with a submissions deadline of 30 September.  Visit npi.gov.au for more specific details.

Our NPI Approach

Advitech has been assisting clients with their NPI reporting for over 10 years.  Our customer base grows each year and includes multiple industry sectors such as steel manufacturing and processing, coal handling and loading, the food and beverage industries, as well as gas and oil refineries.  We continually remain abreast of all legislative requirements of NPI, whilst ensuring the process is a simple one for our customers.

We have developed a detailed approach for NPI, that is adaptable for each industry or facility.

NPI Spreadsheet Templates

The key advantage of our process is our customised spreadsheet that contains a key  features such as colour coding, cell protection and presentation of results in easy to understand tables or graphs.  These features minimise errors in data entry and allow calculations to be easily verified, thereby increasing confidence in results. The establishment of Advitech’s NPI spreadsheet for your facility requires considerable time in the first year as all applicable processes need to be thoroughly considered.  Once the facility specific spreadsheet is created, reporting times can be reduced by up to 75% for the subsequent NPI reporting year, saving customers both time and money.

The final stage in our NPI reporting process is to complete the online report as a registered reporter for the facility and respond to any follow up questions from the NPI agency.  Having completed over 300 reports for our customers, and responded to multiple agency questions, we have gained valuable experience and knowledge on most industry sectors and developed strong rapport with key NPI agency personnel.
