Meet Advitech's Newest 'Green' Team Member!
Traditionally, Advitech Environmental Services has focused on assisting industry to develop sustainably and comply with their environmental obligations. The group is supported by Advitech's multi-disciplinary team of engineers, drafters, information systems developers, risk managers and project managers. In response to our clients changing needs, expectations and obligations, Advitech has expanded its range of environmental services and increased its skill base through the recruitment of new team members.
Damian Ogburn recently joined Advitech as a Senior Environmental Consultant. He has over 30 years experience in aquatic and catchment environmental issues, and a PhD focusing on catchment management and water quality. Damian;s practical environmental management experience in both the private sector/industry and government is comprehensive. He has experience in management, research, policy and program development through his work with government agencies (ranging from local to international) in Australia and South East Asia, and as consultant with the Nature Conservancy and World Bank programs. He was State Manager of NSW Fisheries for 13 years, and is currently the Director of the pioneer Australian Akoya pearl farming company, Port Stephens Pearls Pty Ltd, located in Salamander Bay, NSW, Australia.
Damian has extensive technical experience including catchment pollution, water quality, GIS and spatial modelling, aquatic ecosystem sampling/survey/analysis methodology, sediment contamination, risk analysis, epidemiology, wetland conservation and restoration, fisheries and aquatic ecosystem modelling, ecological landscape analysis, agribusiness case management and economic modelling.
Damian has published widely in refereed journals, conference proceedings, books, workshops and technical papers. He was also responsible for preparation of numerous government reports and award winning management plans including the recent NSW Oyster Industry Sustainable Aquaculture Strategy which received a NSW Premiers Award in 2007.
